Programming software that keeps useful training history
Keep the coach in charge of the decision
Training software should help a coach see what happened previously, not imply that a recorded number automatically determines the next session. When choosing a platform, check how it distinguishes a target from completed work and how it represents a change of exercise. A useful history includes context: date, movement, units and the programme being followed.
Test a repeated session
Create a fictional programme with one repeated exercise and one variation. Record the first session, then open the second as a member and a coach. Check whether both people can understand the history and whether an accidental entry can be corrected through an appropriate permissioned workflow.
- Check which values are planned and which were actually recorded.
- Ask how edits to templates affect assigned programmes.
- Confirm that members only see the records they are permitted to access.
- Review the workflow on the phones staff and members actually use.
Connect the record to a coaching conversation
The useful outcome is a coach who can prepare without searching through several tools. Compare this with your current handover process and ask which manual steps remain. See the programming software checklist and workout history guide before a demo.
